About the position

As a Senior Developer in the Defence Business Services (DBS) Automation Garage, you will be expected to work collaboratively in small, multi-disciplinary agile scrum teams, taking Discovery Documents for Robotic Process Automations, PowerApps, etc., created by the Business Analysts, through development, testing, user acceptance testing, to live running operation. In addition, you will be expected to investigate and assess new technologies that may offer benefits to the organisation if adopted. The role involves supporting the implementation of new systems or upgrades for RPA, Chatbot, Power Platforms, Cognitive, Cloud, and Intelligent Automation Solutions, developing good practices, and growing the digital community. You will also innovate and improve the way processes are delivered to the business, collaborating with others to understand and review software requirements, and maintaining and supporting open Gitlab repositories.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of new systems or upgrades for RPA, Chatbot, Power Platforms, Cognitive, Cloud and Intelligent Automation Solutions.
  • Develop good practice and ways of working.
  • Grow the digital community and encourage collaboration.
  • Develop knowledge and keep up to date with latest vendor offerings across multiple technologies.
  • Innovate and improve the way processes are delivered to the business.
  • Collaborate with service managers, technical architects, and design teams to understand and review software requirements.
  • Design, code, test, correct, and document user interfaces using the right standards and tools.
  • Keep service and project managers informed of the status of development/service support.
  • Maintain and support open Gitlab repositories.
  • Manage Amazon Web Service storage, domain naming services, and DynamoDB.

Requirements

  • Programming and build (software engineering) skills.
  • Development process optimisation experience.
  • Service support capabilities.
  • Competence in applying a modern standards approach.
  • Understanding of information security and designing secure solutions.
  • Prototyping skills and ability to establish design patterns.
  • User focus and ability to collaborate with user researchers.
  • Availability and capacity management skills.
  • Systems design capabilities for medium complexity systems.
  • Systems integration knowledge.
