About The Position

An IT Defect Analyst is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and documenting defects found during software testing. They work closely with testing teams and developers to ensure defects are clearly described, properly categorized, and accurately prioritized for resolution. The IT Defect Analyst reviews and analyzes software defects, ensures they are fully documented, and supports the development and QA teams in resolving them efficiently. We are seeking a Defect Analyst with 7+ years of experience for the QA team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the utilities industry. Thorough knowledge in testing processes end to end, performing functional and performance testing, and collaborating with teams to optimize workflows and system performance.

Requirements

  • Power BI, Jira, SQL, Testing and Validation Processes, Workflow Optimization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and documentation ability
  • Familiarity with defect tracking tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, etc.)
  • Understanding of software testing concepts and SDLC
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies
  • Work with offshore and onshore team
  • Good communication with internal and external stakeholders, project management, team management, problem solving, root cause analysis

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate defects reported by QA testers or users.
  • Analyze defect details to confirm reproducibility and impact.
  • Clearly document defect steps, expected vs actual results, and screenshots/logs.
  • Assign and categorize defects based on severity and priority.
  • Communicate with developers to clarify issues and support root cause analysis.
  • Track defect status throughout the lifecycle until closure.
  • Prepare defect reports or summaries for meetings and stakeholders.
  • Help identify patterns or recurring issues to improve software quality.
  • Usage of Power BI for analysis and reporting
