About The Position

The Default Loan Management Coordinator at Morris College plays a crucial role in the Office of Financial Aid, directly supervised by the Director of Financial Aid. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies aimed at preventing and managing student loan defaults. The coordinator will track and manage student loan delinquencies, working closely with loan services, guarantors, and other service providers to restore delinquent accounts. A significant aspect of this role involves promoting awareness of default issues among students and the broader college community. In addition to managing delinquent accounts, the Default Loan Management Coordinator will reach out to former students who are delinquent on their federal student loans. This includes overseeing all borrower communication initiatives to ensure that students are informed about their loan status and the options available to them. The coordinator will also review the Student Status Confirmation Report (SSCR) in collaboration with the Registrar through the National Clearinghouse, ensuring that all records are accurate and up-to-date. Furthermore, the coordinator will maintain appropriate records and coordinate debt counseling sessions with students. This involves assisting students in making payments to bring their accounts current, as well as providing guidance on deferment and forbearance options to prevent and mitigate defaults. The role requires a proactive approach to student engagement and a commitment to helping students navigate their financial obligations effectively.
