The Deep Tech Architecture group within the Analog Garage applies leading-edge circuit design, device design, and nanoscale fabrication technologies to develop innovative solutions to big societal problems. We are seeking a Deep-Tech Optical Sensing Architect to join our team developing disruptive solutions for challenges in health of human, health of planet, autonomy & intelligence, and other strategic focus areas for ADI. The ideal candidate will architect and validate early-stage deep-tech concepts leveraging ADI’s advanced semiconductor and sensing technologies, with a strong emphasis on optical and spectroscopic techniques.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and/or Nanoscale Science.
  • Deep expertise in optical spectroscopy techniques (fluorescence, UV, FTIR, DLS, EIS).
  • Hands-on experience with biological samples and related sensing challenges.
  • Minimum of 10+ years relevant industry or research experience in optical sensing or spectroscopy systems.
  • Proven track record of developing innovative sensing technologies and translating them into functional prototypes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to thrive in an early-stage R&D environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in designing and/or specifying optical sensors for scientific or medical instruments
  • Experience in optical design (free-space optics, fiber optics, lens specification)
  • Familiarity with signal processing and data analysis for spectroscopy applications.
  • Experience working with customers and external partners.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to adapt to rapidly evolving technology landscapes.

Responsibilities

  • Architecting and developing advanced optical sensing systems for biological and chemical analysis, integrating electronics with spectroscopy methods.
  • Applying deep knowledge of spectroscopy techniques such as fluorescence, UV, FTIR, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to design novel sensing platforms.
  • Designing and implementing proof-of-concept and minimum viable products for optical and photonic sensing solutions targeting biological samples.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including photonics experts, PCB designers, algorithm developers, and biologists to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Distilling complex requirements from diverse stakeholders into innovative architectures that combine optics, electronics, and biology.
  • Partnering with internal venture teams to explore market opportunities, assess competitive landscapes, and contribute to go-to-market strategies.
  • Engaging with external partners and universities to advance the state of the art in optical sensing technologies.
