The Deduction Specialist (DS) supports the day-to-day financial dispute research and resolution activities for Pfizer US Market Access. The position plays a key role in impacting Pfizer's Profit and Loss and works closely with Pfizer's Accounts Receivable and Collections Team. The DS works collaboratively with internal stakeholders to research, document, and close disputes in a timely manner so that Pfizer can successfully collect on any money owed while capturing all required documentation for audit. The DS will work closely with customer's directly ensuring timely notification of claims outside of Pfizer's policy and/or contracts and leads discussions with trading partners to address open issues. The DS will work directly with various departments and levels of management along with external vendors and direct customers to ensure proper documentation is captured, accurate research is performed to support Global Business Services payback request. This position requires strong business acumen, attention to detail and understanding of Pfizer's Terms of Sale and Return Goods Policy, products, contracts, and trade policies. The position requires self-direction, an ability to apply complex business rules to achieve business objectives, a solid understanding of financials around dispute management, as well as internal controls of compliance.

  • Use analytical skills to identify deduction trends and pinpoint root causes of deductions.
  • Develop proactive plans to reduce chronic deductions and non-compliance fines and fees associated on accounts.
  • Process adjustments according to Pfizer's policies and/or contract agreements with customers.
  • Work directly with assigned wholesalers, retail chains, or smaller trading partners to resolve accounts receivable deductions.
  • Coordinate and/or participate on regular customer calls to ensure current policies, contracts, or Pfizer offered programs are being followed by trading partners.
  • Request/review data from customers for accuracy to ensure information is per agreement(s).
  • Perform in-depth analysis and present conclusions and recommendations to management.
  • Understand multiple policies within Pfizer's business and navigate through formal and informal channels.
  • Demonstrate ability to work on own initiative and function in an environment of constant change and competing priorities.
  • Communicate with diverse groups, leadership, and customers directly to foster positive working relationships.
  • Bachelor's degree with any years of experience, or Associate's degree with 4+ years of experience, or high school diploma (or equivalent) with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred 2+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical trade business.
  • Keen understanding of pharmaceutical trade policies (returns, recalls, contracts, etc.) or 5 years' experience working in Customer Service, Finance, or Logistics with experience researching and resolving customer claims.
  • Ability to work in a high-performing team environment.
  • Experience with financial shared services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in SAP and Business Objects reporting is a plus.
