About The Position

The position serves as the driver's supervisor and representative in Operations, focusing on managing driver performance across various identified categories. The primary goal is to ensure optimum driver and customer satisfaction through effective communication and management practices.

Requirements

• Associate Degree or 1-2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Nice To Haves

• 2-year degree in a related field.
• 3 years of experience in transportation.
• Demonstrates decision-making ability with little supervision.
• Intermediate user ability for Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the sole communications link to drivers, providing load information, advances, purchase orders, maintenance coordination, performance counseling, and general company news.
• Manage a full board of tractors and drivers, ensuring effective management for optimum performance in data entry accuracy, driver turnover, utilization, on-time service, and overall safety.
• Ensure drivers are current on preventative maintenance for their trucks.
• Update drivers on road conditions and restrictions as communicated by the Safety Department.
• Communicate timely with HR regarding drivers' medical conditions or attendance issues.
• Handle driver complaints and ensure they are escalated to the appropriate person or department for timely resolution.
• Collaborate with Load Planners and other Fleet Managers to plan future workloads.
• Work with Service and Breakdown departments to maintain equipment and meet service schedules.
• Think strategically and plan ahead in rapidly changing situations while maintaining a positive team-oriented attitude.
• Stay organized and engaged with team members.
• Maintain a positive attitude with co-workers and supervisors, exercising trust when issues arise.
