About The Position

As a Decision Scientist for the Strategic Analytics team, you will be responsible for conducting analyses to support strategic decisions and address key business questions. This role will be focused on tackling open-ended business problems with a strategic lens, offering creative, data-driven solutions. This includes participating in scoping sessions, assisting in defining project requirements, executing data analysis, visualizing findings, and communicating insights to support business decisions. You will partner with business stakeholders and data science, delivering actionable insights that inform decisions across the organization. This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work some days on-site at the Best Buy location listed on this ing and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. Unfortunately this position does not provide sponsorship.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in a professional business environment
  • 3 years of work experience in business, analytics, or related area
  • 2 years with analytics, reporting and/or database knowledge and experience (using tools, applications and platforms such as SQL)
  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries to extract, analyze, and manipulate data
  • 1 year of work experience using Python or R for statistical modeling
  • Ability to clearly present and articulate complex ideas
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, economics, management, supply chain, marketing)
  • Master's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, economics, management, supply chain, marketing)
  • 2 years of work experience in marketing analytics
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as GCP, AWS
  • Ability to story tell through data and translate complex information into clear and actionable insights

Responsibilities

  • Complete open-ended business problems with a strategic lens, offering creative, data-driven solutions.
  • Participate in scoping sessions and delivery meetings with business clients, documenting requirements, objectives, and specifications.
  • Perform analytics using scientific methods that rely upon mathematics, statistics and hypothesis testing.
  • Create and package insights to business stakeholders in a non-technical, easy to understand manner.
  • Query structured data and reports using SQL, Python or R.
  • Perform data validation to ensure the accuracy of analytical results.
  • Answer questions on dataset types and their limitations.
