Job Description: The Role: The architect role focused on debug, trace and profiling will be especially vital to SiFive’s effort to create silicon at the speed of software across our entire IP portfolio, including Essential, Intelligence, Performance, and Automotive IPs. The debug/trace/profiling architect will help plan the overall debug strategy and drive innovation in architecture, design, tool and methods. He/She will work with various teams Product, Core, SoC platform, and software architects. He/She will engage with customers and partners or tools vendors to help determine the future of the debug, trace and profiling solutions and will engage with the RISC-V International Association to help drive the state of the art of debug strategy.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science / Computer Architecture
  • 10+ years of experience in debug architecture
  • 5+ years involved in the engineering team to deliver HW products.
  • Has experience in SoC design flow, including spec definition, microarchitecture design, and performance modeling.
  • Experience in debugging tools, profiling methods
  • Knowledgeable in debug interfaces JTAG, cJTAG …
  • Knowledgeable in CPU architectures, power management and SoC design.
  • Deep understanding in platform hardware, operating systems, device drivers and firmware interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Define features The debug, trace and profiling architect will be responsible for defining the platform requirements and defining the architecture of the needed features.
  • The debug, trace and profiling architect will be responsible for writing detailed specifications in accordance with the various functional leads (architects, SW, design and verification leads).
  • The debug, trace and profiling architect will be heavily involved in the micro-architecture to define and review the implementation of the required features.
  • The debug, trace and profiling architect will have the opportunity to work with a team of micro-architects, SoC architects, and security architects in developing the microarchitecture of the debug, trace, performance monitoring and profiling features.
  • Interface with customers The debug, trace and profiling architect will have a chance to interact directly with customers to understand their needs, use cases and to help resolve their concerns/issues.
  • Interface with RVIA The debug, trace and profiling architect will participate in various SIG/TG/HC related to debug, trace and profiling.
