About The Position

At Baruch College we believe that student success is everyone's responsibility Baruch College seeks a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and strategic leader to serve as the next Dean of the Mildred and George Weissman School of Arts and Sciences ("Weissman" or "the School"). Located in the heart of New York City, Baruch College ("Baruch") has delivered on its mission of excellence, access, and outcomes since its founding in 1847 as part of what is now the City University of New York system. As the liberal arts core of Baruch College, the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences is dedicated to a liberal arts and sciences education focused on critical thinking and engaged learning for all Baruch students. Baruch enrolls approximately 20,000 students across its three schools. The Weissman School of Arts and Sciences serves a critical role for the College as the provider of the core undergraduate curriculum for the entire College. Over 4,000 students are enrolled in Weissman degree programs, and all Baruch undergraduate students who enter as first-year students are required to complete at least half of their coursework through the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences. In addition to its 3,826 undergraduate students, the Weissman School offers six Master's programs, providing students with intellectually rigorous, engaging experiences, and close mentoring from a caring and accomplished faculty. As a member of the College's senior leadership team, the Dean reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and is a member of the Baruch College President's Cabinet. The Dean is responsible for providing strategic vision and collaborative leadership for the Weissman School while advancing the broader mission of Baruch College. The Dean sets standards for intellectual engagement and academic excellence; leads planning and development; ensures assessment and accreditation of the School and its academic programs; champions interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation; supports faculty scholarship and student success; and builds external partnerships that benefit the School and the College as a whole.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience
  • Academic credentials commensurate with a tenured appointment at the rank of Professor in the Weissman School
