About The Position

Baruch College seeks a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and strategic leader to serve as the next Dean of the Mildred and George Weissman School of Arts and Sciences. Located in the heart of New York City, Baruch College has delivered on its mission of excellence, access, and outcomes since its founding in 1847 as part of what is now the City University of New York system. The Weissman School of Arts and Sciences is dedicated to a liberal arts and sciences education focused on critical thinking and engaged learning for all Baruch students. The Dean is responsible for providing strategic vision and collaborative leadership for the Weissman School while advancing the broader mission of Baruch College.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Eight years of related experience.
  • Academic credentials commensurate with a tenured appointment at the rank of Professor in the Weissman School.
  • Significant leadership and administrative experience in a complex academic environment.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across schools and units.
  • Strong management, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience using data to guide strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Commitment to faculty development, scholarship, and interdisciplinary teaching.
  • Experience with program assessment, accreditation, and academic innovation.
  • Success in building partnerships with external stakeholders.
  • Fundraising experience or potential, especially in a campaign setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic vision and collaborative leadership for the Weissman School.
  • Set standards for intellectual engagement and academic excellence.
  • Lead planning and development for the School.
  • Ensure assessment and accreditation of the School and its academic programs.
  • Champion interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation.
  • Support faculty scholarship and student success.
  • Build external partnerships that benefit the School and the College.
