About The Position

The Dean of Students at Charles Page High School is responsible for assisting the school principals in providing direction, leadership, and day-to-day management of educational activities. This role plays an integral part in establishing and maintaining a conducive school climate for learning, overseeing the enforcement of school rules and regulations, and implementing disciplinary measures when necessary. The Dean oversees student admission, dismissal, referral, and retention processes, monitors student and staff attendance, and supervises curriculum development activities. Additionally, the Dean supervises professional and paraprofessional personnel and serves as an administrative liaison with internal and external components, constituents, and programs. The position may also involve participation in the School Governance Council and coordination of school organizations.

Requirements

  • Oklahoma Secondary Administrator(s) Degree (Preferred).
  • Pass an OSBI Background Check.
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in education/administration and/or equivalent required subject hours.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as part of the assigned school's administrative team.
  • Oversee the administration of school programs and the implementation of policies.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and evaluating services for professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Interact with teachers and staff to develop materials and methodologies for personalized instructional programs.
  • Participate in the development of a comprehensive educational plan designed to meet Outcome-Based Education guidelines.
  • Monitor safety and security by touring the school building and its external perimeters.
  • Direct and coordinate staff supervision of areas such as hallways and cafeterias.
  • Coordinate the provision of student support services for targeted 'at-risk' students.
  • Conduct classroom observations on instructional staff and provide input during the teacher evaluation process.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with community groups, parents, students, and District administrators.
  • Assist in coordinating extra-curricular and athletic activities.
  • Counsel with students regarding personal and school-related issues.
  • Provide positive reinforcement and activities for struggling students.
  • Administer and enforce school policies related to discipline and student attendance.
  • Oversee and supervise the management of student attendance and discipline records.
  • Communicate with parents, teachers, and faculty regarding infractions of the code of conduct.
  • Monitor students' excessive absences and tardies and communicate those to parents.
  • Enforce Dress Code Policy.
  • Serve as an administrator on duty at school events.
  • Assist in the development of policies/protocols for student discipline and behavior.

Benefits

  • Salary based on SSPS Teacher Salary Scale plus stipend for 20 additional days.
  • 200 contract days with 7 hours daily.
