Position Overview UPA is seeking an exceptional Dean of Instruction and Innovation who is ready to grow into principalship while actively shaping and strengthening instruction across the school. This role is designed for a high-impact instructional leader—someone who has a strong track record of improving teaching and learning and is ready to scale that impact schoolwide. This is not a traditional assistant principal role. This is a principal pipeline position with real ownership, real influence, and real growth.

Requirements

• Current or former Assistant Principal, Instructional Coach, or school leader
• Proven ability to improve teaching and learning outcomes
• Strong background in literacy instruction across content areas
• Experience with or deep belief in Project-Based Learning (PBL)
• Demonstrated success in coaching and developing teachers
• Skilled in using data to drive instructional decisions
• Ability to turn feedback into meaningful instructional change
• Strong relationship-builder who can influence and inspire adults
• Clear, confident communicator
• Systems thinker who can move from vision to execution
• Deep understanding of what drives student achievement
• Reflective and thoughtful about your leadership practice
• Grounded in what works best for students

Responsibilities

• Instructional Leadership Drive strong, aligned instruction across all classrooms
• Ensure literacy is embedded across all content areas
• Champion and implement high-quality Project-Based Learning (PBL)
• Support teachers in designing engaging, rigorous, and student-centered lessons
• Coaching & Teacher Development Provide frequent, actionable coaching that leads to measurable teacher growth
• Translate observation feedback into clear next steps and improved instruction
• Build teacher capacity through modeling, co-planning, and data-driven conversations
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional learning
• Data-Driven Decision Making Analyze student achievement data to identify trends and gaps
• Lead instructional adjustments based on data while maintaining a focus on the whole child
• Monitor progress toward academic goals and ensure accountability
• School Culture & Systems Help build a culture where students are deeply engaged and invested in learning
• Develop and refine systems that support both teachers and students
• Contribute to a school environment that is structured, joyful, and academically rigorous
• Leadership Development Partner closely with the Principal/CEO to co-lead key initiatives
• Participate in strategic planning and school model development
• Grow into principal-level leadership through hands-on experience and coaching
