About The Position

The Dean of Elementary Students at Hamilton Elementary School is a leadership role focused on fostering an inclusive and high-performing educational environment. This position involves coordinating the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and supporting instructional leadership, professional development, and culturally responsive practices to enhance student learning and staff growth. The Dean will work closely with the Principal and various stakeholders to ensure alignment with state standards and district curriculum while promoting positive relationships within the community.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in administration, supervision, or education required.
  • Valid Michigan school administrator's certificate or enrollment in a certification program within 6 months of employment.
  • Three years of successful teaching experience preferred.
  • Leadership experience in a school setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Principal in the effective use of human, technical, and fiscal resources.
  • Collaborate with the IB Principal and Instructional Leadership Team to implement state standards and district curriculum.
  • Support teachers in delivering standards-based instruction and assessments.
  • Ensure staff training in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Assist the Principal in meeting goals outlined in the district's strategic plan.
  • Implement district policies and procedures as specified by the Board of Education and state regulations.
  • Utilize data to drive and differentiate instruction.
  • Provide timely feedback for staff and student development through evaluation processes.
  • Plan and facilitate professional development for teachers and behavior interventions.
  • Support district assessment needs and coordinate testing efforts.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and community organizations.
  • Identify staff professional development needs and encourage professional growth.
  • Support the implementation of Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
  • Utilize restorative justice practices and alternatives to out-of-school suspensions.
  • Plan opportunities for family and community involvement.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships to enhance instruction and student achievement.
  • Assist with student interventions including EL, Special Education, and Title One programs.
  • Collaborate with the Principal in staff development, supervision, and evaluation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate school meetings and events.
