Founded in 1950, California Baptist University is a private comprehensive institution located in Riverside, California. With strong growth in student numbers and program offerings, CAVAD consists of 9 academic programs, 23 faculty, 3 support staff, and approximately 600 students. The Dean of the College of Architecture, Visual Arts + Design is the chief academic officer and the administrative head of the school. The Dean holds academic rank and is charged with the administration, academic leadership, and supervision of the operation of the school through its instructional programs, research, publications, and service activities. This administrator must be a visionary who has the demonstrated ability and entrepreneurial mindset to execute a strategic plan. The Dean reports directly to the Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and serves on the Provost’s Council.

Requirements

• A demonstrated mature Christian faith aligned with CBU’s foundation as a Christian institution committed to the Great Commission
• demonstrated experience and knowledge of integrating Christian faith with the theory and practice of art, design, or creativity
• an earned terminal degree from an accredited institution in a field related to the work of CAVAD
• progressive administrative experience in higher education
• knowledge of accreditation bodies
• an outstanding record of leadership and service to the community
• an outstanding record of academic activities including university teaching, research, retention, fiscal management, strategic planning, and enthusiasm and the ability to contribute to substantial development and fundraising efforts
