About The Position

​​​​​Dean Assistants support the school’s efforts to create a positive, structured, disciplined school culture. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Students, who provides guidance, and direction, and supports school policy. A successful Assistant Dean is passionate about supporting our students, adapts to changes, and cultivates productive relationships with all members of the school community, including faculty, students, and families.

Requirements

  • School-based and student support experience is strongly preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Meets schedules and deadlines
  • Plans and organizes work
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable personality
  • Demonstrate proficiency using programs such as: Excel, PowerSchool, and DeansList.
  • Establishes and maintains productive, collaborative relationships with others.
  • Relates to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective disciplinary program.
  • Models KIPP standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Strong interest in growing into a future Dean of Students or school-based operational role

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between students, families, and instructional staff under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Students
  • Supports with scanning, Yondr bags, and dress code during arrival
  • Monitors spaces while students are on campus before, during, and after school
  • Monitors students during lunch, transitions, and other activities (after-school athletic, enrichment, and arts events;
  • Supervise students if they are given consequences in accordance with our established tiered response guidelines
  • Attend weekly professional development sessions.
