The position involves providing direct instruction to students with hearing impairments as documented in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The special education teacher will conduct assessments for initial or special re-evaluations to determine the academic and communication needs of students, preparing reports for the IEP system. Collaboration with audiologists and school staff is essential to develop effective IEPs and provide training on amplification systems and assistive technology devices. The teacher will also attend IEP meetings, communicate effectively with deaf and hard-of-hearing students, and maintain data tracking systems to document student progress toward IEP goals. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
