The internship is located in the United Nations Secretariat Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Section of the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions (OROLSI) in the Department of Peace Operations (DPO). The Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions (OROLSI) was established in 2007 to strengthen the links and coordinate the Department's activities in the areas of police, justice and corrections, mine action, the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of ex-combatants and security sector reform. The DDR Section (DDRS) provides strategic and technical advice as well as planning and operational support to DDR processes and DDR-related tools including community violence reduction (CVR) and weapons and ammunition management (WAM) in multiple countries and regional contexts around the world, spanning from Latin America to Africa and Asia. This internship will have a focus on support to West Africa, the Sahel and the Horn of Africa as well as on support to the 2025 annual DDR Symposium and support with data analysis.
