About The Position

A DDC Applications Engineer has experience in most applications for BAS (approx. 3+ years). They fully understand single zone control systems and AHU systems but may need assistance with more detailed CEP systems, pharmaceutical or room/lab pressurization projects. Fully understands Plan & Spec work, capable of handling a plan/spec job with little to no assistance. The controls project engineer is responsible for the following: development of scope of work, producing control submittals, wiring diagrams, sequences of operations (SOPs), schedules, graphics, engineering documents/checklists, programming necessary to implement the project, and at times performing remote/on-site checkouts/commissioning.

Requirements

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend and implement applicable HVAC related federal, state, and local governmental laws, codes, and regulations
  • Current driver's license
  • Familiarity with the following computer programs; Microsoft 365 suite
  • Experience (3+ years) within the controls industry, Building Management Systems and/or HVAC Systems
  • Ability to review, design, and implement building controls functions for HVAC components and graphical interfaces
  • Ability to develop sequence of operations for HVAC operation
  • Ability to utilize Computer Aided Design programs to develop design documents
  • Experience with IOT network protocols (For example, TCP/IP, UDP, BACNET, Modbus, SCADA, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Create project shop drawings per project documentation and customer standards
  • Read and understand project specifications and MEP drawing sets
  • Select materials including DDC modules, field sensing and control devices, dampers, and valves to meet the project requirements, specifications, codes, and customer standards.
  • Submit material order forms for all project required materials to project manager or purchasing group
  • Communicate with technicians and subcontractors to develop as-built documentation
  • Participating on job takeoffs and developing technical plan to achieve the project scope
  • Developing, evaluating, and testing project programs to ensure they meet the specified sequence of operations and that they perform according to industry standards
  • Inspect BMS including point-to-point, determining the proper operating ranges for field devices, as well as complete functional system checkouts
  • Provide technical design assistance to sales, project managers, field staff, and customers
