About The Position

The DCC Parole/Probation Officer I is responsible for supervising adult offenders on parole or probation, ensuring compliance with legal and agency regulations. This role involves conducting office visits, community checks, and drug testing, as well as providing referrals for support services. The officer maintains detailed records and reports on the progress and behavior of parolees/probationers, contributing to their rehabilitation and community adjustment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, sociology, psychology, social work, or a related field.
• Valid Arkansas driver's license.
• Ability to be certified as a specialized police officer within one year of employment.
• Ability to qualify with firearms and exercise self-defense tactics.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision of adult offenders on parole or probation.
• Review policies, procedures, and regulations related to parole or probation.
• Establish the frequency of office visits for parolees/probationers.
• Counsel parolees/probationers during office visits and refer them to support agencies.
• Maintain chronological history of contacts and actions taken related to parole or probation records.
• Prepare reports on parole/probation cases.
• Conduct home and community visits to verify information and assist with community adjustment.
• Administer board or court-ordered drug tests and observe testing procedures.
• Write parole violation warrants or probation violation reports when necessary.
• Assist in investigations of parole/probation violations and write summaries of findings.
• Submit progress reports to other states regarding interstate compact parolees/probationers.
