About The Position

The DCC Parole/Probation Officer I is responsible for supervising adult offenders on parole or probation, ensuring compliance with legal and agency policies. This role involves direct interaction with parolees/probationers, conducting assessments, and facilitating access to support services. The officer is also tasked with maintaining detailed records and reports, conducting home visits, and administering drug tests as part of the rehabilitation process.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, sociology, psychology, social work, or a related field.
• Valid Arkansas driver's license.
• Ability to be certified as a specialized police officer within one year of employment.
• Ability to learn and apply parole or probation programs and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision of adult offenders on parole or probation.
• Review policies, procedures, and regulations related to parole or probation.
• Establish the frequency of office visits for parolees/probationers.
• Counsel parolees/probationers during office visits and refer them to support agencies.
• Maintain chronological records of contacts and actions taken regarding parole/probation records.
• Prepare reports related to parole/probation activities.
• Conduct home and community visits to verify compliance with parole/probation conditions.
• Administer board or court-ordered drug tests and document results.
• Assist in writing parole violation warrants or probation violation reports.
• Observe the serving of warrants and assist in arrests of parole violators.
• Support parole/probation violation investigations and write summaries of findings.
• Submit progress reports regarding interstate compact parolees/probationers.
