Role Summary: The Distribution Center Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for daily inbound and outbound dock operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant movement of freight. This role leads to a team responsible for unloading, receiving, verifying, staging, picking, packing, shipping, and documentation of all incoming and outgoing goods. The Supervisor is accountable for safety, workflow coordination, carrier interaction, inventory accuracy, and productivity standards within the dock environment.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of supervisory experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
  • Be a TPS brand ambassador.
  • Knowledge of inbound/outbound freight, carrier requirements, and shipping documentation.
  • Effective communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across diverse teams and communicate professionally with all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, WMS, RF scanning, Aptos experience plus.
  • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and lifts (certification preferred).
  • Able to lift50lbs., push/pull 100 lbs., climb ladders, and stand/walk up to 6 hours.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends, and extended holiday season hours (Sept–Dec).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all inbound/outbound dock activities including unloading, receiving, verification, staging, picking, packing, and trailer loading.
  • Maintain accurate documentation (bills of lading, packing lists, WMS entries) and ensure vendor compliance.
  • Monitor dock flow, space utilization, and staging efficiency.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Shipping & Receiving associates.
  • Conduct daily huddles/startup meetings to communicate goals, updates, and expectations.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, and documenting disciplinary conversations (manager retains final approval).
  • Support onboarding and on going cross training to build a flexible team.
  • Maintain confidentiality around personnel information and business matters.
  • Foster a safe, professional, and inclusive team culture.
  • Coordinate carrier pickups, appointments, and dock schedules.
  • Communicate with carriers, transportation partners, and vendors to resolve exceptions.
  • Investigate damages/discrepancies and perform root cause analysis with follow-up actions.
  • Enforce safety protocols, equipment procedures, and 5S standards.
  • Maintain and update SOPs; reinforce consistent adherence.
  • Comply with OSHA, federal, state, local, and company policies.
  • Assign and adjust tasks based on labor, volume, and priority freight.
  • Own departmental KPIs, reporting, and dashboards; identify gaps and lead corrective actions.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance accuracy, speed, and freight flow.
  • Partner closely with Inventory Control, Purchasing, and other departments on operational alignment.
