DC-Alliance Provides operational leadership to develop and/or drive strategies to achieve operational goals in productivity, accuracy and safety for assigned shift/department in the Distribution Center (DC). Primary Responsibilities Works with Coaches and business partners to achieve operational objectives for the assigned shift/department. Coordinates daily workload to ensure goals for productivity, quality, and safety are achieved. 50% Evaluates and recommends opportunities to streamline/optimize work methods, procedures, controls and staffing to achieve accurate and timely movement of freight. 10% Drives Safety policies and practices to ensure a safe working environment for the assigned shift/department. Identifies safety opportunities and promotes awareness and accountability. 10% Partners with HR to identify and properly address team member issues/concerns and overall performance for individuals. 10% Mentors Coaches to raise performance and develop “hard” and “soft” skill sets through clearly defined expectations, training, career planning, coaching and counseling. 10% Completes other duties/projects as identified or assigned. 10% Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelors’ degree in Logistics or Business preferred; additional related training is a plus. 5 + years previous supervisory/management experience in a DC/warehouse environment demonstrating a track record of operational success. Computer literacy to include proficiency Microsoft Suite applications and effective use of WMS and LMS systems. Demonstrated ability to successfully develop talent. Effective time management skills, including the ability to multi-task. Working knowledge of Michaels’ SOPs and policies or those in a similar organization. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a professional manner, applying active listening skills to effective decision-making. Practice “Respectful Leadership” in the workplace at all times. Able to work a flexible schedule as business needs require. Physical Requirements: Regular sitting when working in an office environment Regular standing/walking, both in the office area and within the warehouse Infrequent bending, stooping, kneeling and twisting Infrequent light lifting/carrying of items of varying weight Repetitive motion and movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers DC Environmental Factors: This position is based in a climate-controlled office setting but will have regular exposure to the warehouse, which features extreme temperatures dependent on external climate and proximity to dock doors/exits. Exposure to moderate noise level from DC conveyor/sortation system and powered industrial equipment when in the warehouse.
