Industrial Park Road Job Description: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned: Complies with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration), Safety and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations under federal, state, and local laws for shipping and handling requirements. Ensure a safe work environment that is consistent with company safety and health standards. Maintain compliance with transportation policies and procedures. Proactively monitor and manage inbound/outbound shipments of products to our stores. Monitor and schedule tasks to ensure they are efficiently completed. Achieves financial objectives by analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions. Provide training to transportation associates to maintain production levels and promote a safe and efficient work environment. Facilitate communication within and amongst management, departments, Stores, Store Support Center, and Supply Chain. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position directly supervises drivers, jockeys, and office staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Weis Markets policies and applicable laws. The incumbent determines work order based upon demand and the need of product. Responsibilities include training, directing, appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and five (5) years’ prior experience as a supervisor in a transportation or warehouse environment. Bachelor of Science in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration is preferred. Leadership Skills Ability to lead and develop talent; prepare them for potential advancement. Ability to effectively partner with internal DC departments and be flexible to changing business needs and react to those needs in a professional positive manner. Strong organizational, time management and communication skills required. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to author reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Bi-Lingual in Spanish is a plus. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. The associate is regularly exposed to indoor conditions and occasionally exposed to outdoor conditions. Associates will experience moderate to high levels of noise from equipment running daily. Associate interacts with co-workers in a fast-paced environment with a moderate to high noise level.
