About The Position

The DC Materials Handler - Outbound position involves performing various outbound functions such as loading, picking, or packing orders for shipment. The role requires locating and pulling merchandise by matching item codes and numbers on the pick ticket against part numbers on the merchandise. Once the order is completed, the handler must ensure that all totes are labeled correctly and do not exceed 60 lbs. The position also involves maintaining accuracy and productivity standards, consolidating and packing stock order merchandise, and operating handheld computers and/or voice picking equipment. Additionally, experienced team members may take on trainer responsibilities, ensuring that new team members are properly trained and that safety standards are maintained.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and match numbers and letters quickly and accurately.
• Strong mathematical skills.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Previous work experience in a similar warehouse environment.
• Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired).

Responsibilities

• Locate and pull merchandise by matching item codes and numbers on the pick ticket against part numbers.
• Place merchandise in totes or stage bulk items in the appropriate area.
• Mark totes by customer number and send them down the conveyor once the order is completed.
• Maintain DC standards for accuracy and productivity when picking orders.
• Consolidate and pack all stock order merchandise quickly and accurately.
• Itemize all products not shipped in totes on the freight bill as soon as they are received.
• Ensure all freight bills are dated with the correct route and totaled at the day's end.
• Operate handheld computers (RF units) and/or voice picking equipment.
• Check items off the freight bill as they are loaded, ensuring accuracy.
• Load trucks quickly and accurately, tying and securing freight as it is loaded.
• Keep picking zones supplied with totes and repair totes as needed.
• Start printers as necessary and sort tickets and labels by zone.
• Maintain a neat and clean work area, disposing of cardboard and trash properly.
• Take ownership of the DC target training program as a trainer.
• Maintain safety standards while operating and identify unsafe practices.
