About The Position

The DC Materials Handler - Outbound position involves performing various outbound functions in the distribution center, including loading, picking, and packing orders for shipment. The role requires adherence to proper methods for the DC-WMS or paper processes. Key responsibilities include locating and pulling merchandise, consolidating and packing stock orders, operating handheld computers and voice picking equipment, and maintaining safety standards while working. Team members with experience may also serve as trainers for new hires.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and match numbers and letters quickly and accurately.
  • Strong mathematical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Previous work experience in a similar warehouse environment.
  • Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired).

Responsibilities

  • Locate and pull merchandise by matching item codes and numbers on the pick ticket against part numbers on the merchandise.
  • Place merchandise in totes or stage bulk items in the appropriate area.
  • Mark completed orders by customer number and send down the conveyor.
  • Ensure all totes are labeled correctly and do not exceed 60 lbs.
  • Maintain DC standards for accuracy and productivity when picking orders.
  • Consolidate and pack stock order merchandise quickly and accurately.
  • Itemize all products not shipped in totes on the freight bill.
  • Check items off the freight bill as they are loaded.
  • Load trucks quickly and accurately, securing freight as necessary.
  • Keep picking zones supplied with totes and repair totes as needed.
  • Operate equipment for outbound functions.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area, disposing of cardboard and trash properly.
  • Train new team members and convey departmental changes.
