About The Position

The position involves performing various outbound functions in a distribution center (DC) such as loading, picking, or packing orders for shipment. All tasks must be executed according to the proper methods for the DC-WMS or paper. The role requires locating and pulling merchandise by matching item codes and numbers on the pick ticket against part numbers on the merchandise, ensuring that all totes are labeled correctly and do not exceed 60 lbs. Additionally, maintaining DC standards for accuracy and productivity is essential when picking orders. The employee will also consolidate and pack stock order merchandise quickly and accurately, itemize products not shipped, and operate handheld computers and voice picking equipment. The role includes loading trucks, keeping picking zones supplied, and maintaining a clean work area. Team members with experience may also serve as trainers, ensuring that training is conducted according to schedule and that all documentation is complete. Safety standards must be maintained while operating equipment, and all other duties as assigned must be performed.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and match numbers and letters quickly and accurately.
  • Strong mathematical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Previous work experience in a similar warehouse environment.
  • Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired).

Responsibilities

  • Locate and pull merchandise by matching item codes and numbers on the pick ticket against part numbers on the merchandise.
  • Place merchandise in totes or stage bulk items in the appropriate area.
  • Mark completed totes by customer number and send them down the conveyor.
  • Ensure all totes are labeled for the correct store and do not exceed 60 lbs.
  • Maintain DC standards for accuracy and productivity when picking orders.
  • Consolidate and pack all stock order merchandise quickly and accurately.
  • Itemize all products not shipped in totes on the freight bill as soon as they are received.
  • Ensure all freight bills are dated with the correct route and totaled at the day's end.
  • Operate handheld computers (RF units) and/or voice picking equipment.
  • Check items off the freight bill as they are loaded.
  • Load trucks quickly and accurately, tying and securing freight as it is loaded.
  • Keep picking zones supplied with totes and repair totes as needed.
  • Start printers as necessary and sort tickets and labels by zone.
  • Operate equipment for any outbound functions.
  • Keep the work area neat and clean, disposing of cardboard and trash properly.
  • Take ownership of the DC target training program as a trainer.
  • Maintain safety standards while operating and identify unsafe practices.
