The role of a DC Materials Handler - Inbound involves the proper handling of incoming products to ensure accurate and available inventory, performing all tasks according to best practice procedures. Key functions include maintaining safety standards, unloading various types of merchandise from trailers, containers, and trucks, and matching skid or box counts to Proof of Delivery documentation while noting discrepancies. The handler places skids on or near the dock, removes packing lists, and documents Vendor Compliance issues, placing parts in designated areas as needed. They are responsible for receiving and stocking products from vendors, store returns, warehouse transfers, UPS, or other small package shipments. This includes properly placing products in various storage locations, from floor level to 72 inches high by foot, or using powered equipment for racking up to building ceiling height. The role also involves researching and correcting discrepancies, closing batches to release products to inventory, and acquiring/replacing products from reserve locations with or without power equipment. Experienced team members may also be designated as trainers, taking ownership of the DC target training program, ensuring scheduled training and complete documentation, and explaining job duties to new team members or conveying procedural changes to existing ones.
