About The Position

The Data Center Technician role at TEKsystems involves performing various tasks related to logistics and inventory management within a data center environment. The technician will be responsible for coordinating deliveries, tracking inventory, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently without direct supervision.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma AND 1+ year(s) experience in warehouse/supply chain in an IT environment, inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Previous data center experience is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Perform troubleshooting and swap out failed components.
  • Provide logistics/warehouse support (sending/receiving).
  • Handle storage media/Data Bearing Device (DBD) reconciliation and physical audits.
  • Perform basic server (discrete/rack-based) repair following documented procedures.
  • Update and audit MS assets.
  • Build out Middle of Rack (MOR).
  • Perform power cycles.
  • Process RMAs and coordinate with the logistics team.
  • Install software and firmware updates.
  • Stage, run, and label cables with a basic understanding of networking, connectivity troubleshooting, and computer hardware.
  • Clean fiber links.
  • Scope, test, QC, and troubleshoot power and cable connections.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, prepare, and execute incoming/outgoing deliveries (e.g., purchase order (PO) receiving, Rack Movement Supervisor (RMS) activities).
  • Ensure complete and detailed physical inventory tracking and staging.
  • Perform inventory cycle audits, data corrections, and various Data Center regulatory compliance or certification control audit activities.
  • Handle material movement, including shipping/receiving and inventory management per standard processes.
  • Perform destruction of data-bearing devices (DBD) following all documented procedures and runbooks.
