About The Position

The DC Infra Eng II position at Amazon Data Services, Inc. involves working closely with design professionals on various concepts and build projects. The role includes creating, reviewing, and releasing data center designs, managing a portfolio of designs and features, and developing and maintaining architectural, civil, and structural design specifications. The engineer will also coordinate with internal and external MEP design engineers and manage external design consultants. The position requires leading initiatives to improve cost, quality, schedule, and consistency while working on multiple data center build and capital improvement projects simultaneously. The role may require travel for site assessments and meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• Five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
• Experience in structural design for industrial or commercial projects.
• Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards including IBC and ASCE.
• Experience with design of Data Center, Mission Critical, Hospital, Schools, Commercial or Residential Tower facilities.
• Up to 25% domestic and international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Work with design professionals on concepts and build projects.
• Create, review and release data center designs.
• Manage portfolio of data center designs and features.
• Develop and maintain Architecture, Civil and Structural-Basis of Design prototype design, and template specifications for structural systems.
• Evaluate superstructure design options and assess structural calculation assumptions.
• Create, review and release architectural/civil/structural design Request for Proposals (RFPs).
• Manage external architectural, civil, structural design consultants.
• Coordinate with internal and external MEP design engineers.
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule and consistency.
• Work on multiple data center build and capital improvement projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments, consultant selection activities, internal design meetings, construction review, and interface with AHJ, design consultants, quantity surveyors, and building owners.
