About The Position

The person in this position is part of MiSide’s Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Program and is a clinician that works along with case managers and is dedicated to dialectical philosophy and the spirit of DBT. The person in this position is passionate about collaborating with individuals so they can live the life they want to live, rather than just “get by”. This role includes the provision of individual therapy, phone coaching, and facilitation of DBT skills groups in an outpatient setting. The person in this position would join the DBT team in serving adults coping with mental illness, substance use, co-occurring disorders, and/or physical health challenges. They would also assist individuals in working toward their wellness goals and complete assessments, treatment planning, on-going evaluation, case consultation and coordination with an integrated health team.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling or psychology from an accredited school.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in clinical services to individuals with severe mental illness, substance use, co-occurring disorders, and personality disorders.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a private vehicle for day-to-day job performance
  • Must have a basic understanding of behavioral principles and learning theory
  • Ability to establish effective clinical and collaborative relationships with a wide range of people
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees, managers and the general public
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills and professionalism toward internal and external customers
  • Ability to work independently and assume self-direction
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time, organize and prioritize work assignments
  • Ability to input data, organize and manage confidential documents and records
  • Ability to maintain cultural awareness and sensitivity to differing backgrounds
  • Proficient in the use of all MS Office applications, Office 365 and familiarity with other web-based solutions
  • Flexibility, time management, and critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the entire treatment environment is structured to meet the goals of fidelity and comprehensive DBT
  • Conduct on-on-one sessions with clients to help them identify personal goals, understand their emotions, develop coping strategies
  • Guide clients in applying DBT skills in real-life situations, enhancing motivation and addressing barriers to change
  • Lead group sessions where clients learn essential skills in a supportive environment, such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, fostering a therapeutic relationship based on mutual respect and understanding
  • Encourage open communication and self-disclosure, which helps build trust and facilitates the therapeutic process
  • Conducts in-person comprehensive assessments and evaluations
  • Formulates and coordinates Person Centered Planning (PCP) meetings and the development of a person-centered treatment plan
  • Provide direct services based upon the individual’s assessed needs to help them progress toward their person-centered goals
  • Provide interventions based upon individual needs such as individual, family, group, and activity therapy and referrals, when applicable
  • Responsible for direct service productivity and documentation standards per program expectations
  • Collaborate with other clinical staff in planning and conducting treatment and activities
  • Participates in case conferences and staff meetings
  • May schedule psychiatric evaluations and medication reviews, as needed
  • Acts as a liaison between the individual/family and their natural supports or providers of services in the community
  • Assists the family to access and utilize appropriate community resources (community inclusion).
  • Maintain timely and accurate client records to ensure they meet DWIHN, CARF, and agency standards
  • Must meet agency productivity and performance standards
  • Must adhere to all requirements/standards of the Behavioral Health Telehealth Agreement
  • Adhere to MiSide policies and procedures
  • Adhere to MiSide code of ethics, and comply with local, state and federal laws
  • Participate in in-service planning and programming
  • Other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned
