About The Position

New Oakland Family Centers provides comprehensive mental health care for individuals of all ages and families across the state of Michigan in outpatient, partial hospital and crisis care settings. The mission of New Oakland Family Centers is to provide psychiatric treatment, therapeutic counseling and educational services of the highest quality to individuals and families by offering consistent and passionate support, being responsive to their needs and treating them with the utmost respect through active involvement in our communities. The Contractual DBT Clinical Therapist provides Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) services in an outpatient setting, primarily facilitating DBT Plus group programming for adolescents, adults, and families. Responsibilities include completing assessments, orientations, required individual meetings, and timely clinical documentation in the EMR. This role collaborates with clinical and administrative staff to support program operations while maintaining ethical standards, agency compliance, and a person-centered approach to care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology.
  • Active, current clinical licensure in the State of Michigan; full licensure is highly preferred. Candidates with a limited license (LLC, LLMSW, or LLP) will be considered if highly qualified. TLLP candidates are not eligible.
  • Continued good standing with the appropriate licensing board and insurance entities is required.
  • Prior experience providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) services.
  • Experience facilitating group therapy.
  • Availability to work approximately 40 hours per week preferred; part-time availability of at least 20 hours per week will be considered for highly qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct DBT Plus assessments for all group participants, including orientation, Q&A, treatment planning when indicated, and completion of required progress notes.
  • Facilitate DBT Plus groups for adolescents and adults in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Direct and support assigned scribes to ensure accurate completion of clinical notes and adherence to administrative and documentation standards.
  • Facilitate Parent DBT Plus groups in person and virtually, ensuring timely and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Provide high-quality, person-centered therapeutic services with professionalism, empathy, and adherence to clinical and ethical standards.
  • Complete all clinical documentation, including progress notes and treatment plans, accurately and within required timeframes in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Conduct monthly individual client meetings as required and complete corresponding documentation in a timely manner.
  • Maintain consistent and effective communication with clinical and administrative team members to support coordinated care.
  • Demonstrate and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients at all times.
  • Appropriately manage and respond to crisis situations while maintaining professionalism and prioritizing client safety.
  • Attend and actively participate in monthly staff meetings and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
  • Exhibit adaptability, a positive attitude toward learning, and openness to constructive feedback with a commitment to ongoing professional growth.
  • Maintain compliance with all required professional training and continuing education standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support program and clinic operations.
