As a DBA/SQL Administrator at Avid Technology Professionals, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining our SQL Server databases and ensuring their optimal performance and security. This position requires a strong understanding of MS SQL Server and its various features, including SQL Server AlwaysOn, database backup and restore processes, and failover clustering. You will be responsible for daily reviews of Windows logs, SQL Server logs, and SQL Server services to identify and mitigate any potential issues. Additionally, you will be tasked with documenting SQL Server processes and troubleshooting reported service support issues to ensure minimal downtime and efficient database operations. Your responsibilities will also include performing regular database backups, verifying backup integrity, and executing restore operations as needed. You will collaborate with the security team to implement Windows security update patching and assist in task mitigation efforts. The role demands a proactive approach to database management, requiring you to stay updated with the latest SQL Server features and best practices. You will also have the opportunity to work with Windows Server features, including failover clustering and event log filtering, to enhance the overall performance and reliability of our IT infrastructure. This position is based in Annapolis Junction, MD, and requires on-site presence.
