DBA Intern Join AAA’s Roadways College Internship Program! AAA has a 10-week internship opportunity for a Database Administrator (DBA) Intern on the Tools and Technology Team. You should have a career aspiration and passion for technology, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. You will shadow the team members in their daily activities with their SCRUM ceremonial meetings, database related operational support, and implementations. About the Roadways College Internship Program: Over the summer program, interns receive tools and resources for their growth and development that will help them prepare for the current and future workforce, including: Understanding how to align business strategy with key objectives and initiatives Using behavioral and communication tools to enhance their personal image Demonstrating flexibility, agility, and the ability to respond effectively to change Cultivating relationships to increase collaboration and build trust What You’ll Do: Attend weekly operational and strategic insight sessions with senior leaders Attend learning and development sessions to further enhance your leadership skills Create and develop presentations using Microsoft Office Tools but not limited to PowerPoint Network with executives and senior leaders across different business units Participate in team building and volunteer events You will take part in job shadowing/hands-on activities per SCRUM/Agile ecosystems (i.e., pair programming, attending daily stand-ups, ceremonies, and retrospectives) You will attend team meetings You will create and develop presentations using Microsoft Office Tools but not limited to PowerPoint Every day, you will attend a stand-up meeting with your assigned team to observe and possibly participate in discussions on project task statuses. You will observe/participate in the actual administration and maintenance of the SQL Servers, AWS RDS, DB2, Windows Clusters, Splunk, and or Teradata Data Analytic platforms and their related databases components. You will receive firsthand mentoring and coaching on DBA responsibilities in large scale environment. You will be able to observe and possibly participate with other IT professionals to evaluate new technologies in the market and recommend cohesive direction for the IT organization. You will observe/participate on how the review and implementation of database related component changes in our defined change window. You will have the ability to observe/participate in the automation of deployments in a CI/CD pipeline. You will observe/participate in the rotational on-call schedule to see how production problems are resolved. What You’ll Need: Must be a Senior enrolled in a college/university with emphasis in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar To maximize on this learning opportunity, you must have a passion in Information Systems or Computer Science and even better in database technologies to listen, learn, and collaborate with your assigned team. You must have an aptitude to learn new things and to adapt to a culture where you will integrate with seniors and working professionals from your assigned team.
