About The Position

The Maries County R-I School District is seeking a hardworking, reliable, and detail-oriented Daytime Custodian to join our team. The primary goal of this position is to maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors during school hours.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions for cleaning chemicals and safety protocols.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift at least 50 lbs, and operate cleaning machinery.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect restrooms, classrooms, cafeterias, hallways, and locker rooms throughout the day.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
• Respond to immediate cleaning needs (spills, bodily fluids) and report maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and buff floors.
• Clean windows, walls, and drinking fountains.
• Restock dispensers (soap, paper towels, toilet paper) in all areas.
• Set up and break down chairs, tables, and equipment for school assemblies, lunches, and evening events.
• Assist with keeping entrances clean and free of debris, including snow/ice removal in winter.
• Secure building entrances as required during the day.
