About The Position

The Kitchen Assistant / Driver is an integral member of the Inspire Early Education team, supporting the overall management of daily kitchen operations and food delivery services. This role ensures the safe preparation, handling, and delivery of meals through the conscientious application of Inspire Early Education standards, helping to achieve the organization’s mission of providing high-quality care and nutrition to children.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of Kitchen Assistant or related experience preferred
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency required
  • Current Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Minimum 26 years of age (insurance requirement)
  • 3+ years of driving or work-related experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record/abstract
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and, if required, a medical assessment
  • Excellent physical condition with the ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to calmly assess problems and determine sensible solutions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a daycare or childcare setting is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day kitchen duties, including heating food, assembling snacks, cutting fruits and vegetables, portioning meals, dishwashing, and delivering food to classrooms
  • Support the Cook in preparing meals and snacks for children with special dietary needs
  • Ensure safe food storage and disposal practices, including maintaining accurate temperature logs
  • Comply with all health regulations and Inspire Early Education's best practices
  • Follow proper washing and sanitizing procedures for all dishware collected from classrooms
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness according to daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules
  • Adapt duties and responsibilities as required to meet the operational needs of daycare centers
  • Load vans according to delivery manifests and assist fellow drivers as needed
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely and accurate deliveries
  • Maintain clean vehicles and cargo spaces daily
  • Complete fleet preparation works as assigned
  • Inspect vehicle lights, signals, and general wear and tear daily
  • Report vehicle issues or warning lights immediately
  • Thoroughly clean delivery bags and cambro equipment
  • Properly store and organize delivery equipment to ensure readiness for the next day
