The Child Care Cook, Food Specialist, is responsible for overall food preparation for the school’s enrolled children. This role should be able to adapt to menu changes and meet meal and snack schedules. The position involves creating home-style, nutritional meal plans within the school's menu and budget, adhering to state and federal requirements, and preparing and distributing meals/snacks for children and staff. The Food Specialist must focus on health and safety by following daily menus that incorporate USDA, licensing, and health department regulations. Organizational skills are key for maintaining inventory of food and supplies and ordering as needed. Additionally, the role requires assisting in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher/Floater when necessary.
