About The Position

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements: Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters. Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN). Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester. Federal Work Study student may apply. They must also be on call during classes to assist students with needs that may arise during a particular class. All student counselors must adhere to the Student Care Policy contained in this announcement. This position is for Summer 2026. The ability to work as part of a team and to manage groups of people are both key to succeeding in this role. The student counselors are THE face of Berklee to the middle school students in the Day Sessions Young Performers Summer Program. Accordingly, professionalism, punctuality, and the ability to communicate are all essential for success. Student Counselors must be able to coordinate and manage the movement of younger students across campus and to ensure their safety in getting to class on time. This job is open to all students on campus. Experience working with children (Music Education and Music Therapy majors) is preferred but not required. Student counselors will report directly to the Director of the Day Sessions Young Performers Summer Program. The program hours are 730AM-4PM daily from July 6-31, 2026. Student employees must be able to work all 4 weeks of the program. Total hours/week = 20-30 dependent upon your summer class enrollment status and your ability to work during the hours indicated. Day Sessions Student Care Policy All Day Sessions administration, faculty and student counselors are subject to a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check. Students attending the Day Sessions Young Performers Summer Program are under the supervision of faculty during all class meetings and are escorted to and from classes, lunch, and program events, both within and between buildings, by college students, usually music education majors, who are employed as counselors. Students are chaperoned at all times during the program’s operating hours (8AM-3PM). Additionally, counselors are present each day 30 minutes prior to the program’s start and up to 60 minutes after the program’s daily conclusion to monitor students who may arrive early or be picked up late.
