Our program activities are carried out on-site at multiple locations throughout Berks County. POSITION SUMMARY Provide supervision to all employees assigned to specific program components. This includes training, appraisal, and assigning of duties. Function as program specialist for program participants. Creativity and flexibility are required in developing meaningful and challenging activities. Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of compassion are necessary as position works with a diverse population. SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL The Program Specialist is responsible for the direct supervision of Instructors in the Adult Training program.

Requirements

Master’s Degree and one year’s experience working with people with disabilities; or Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or related field and two years’ experience; or Associate’s Degree and four years’ experience.
Ability to function with and relate to persons with mental retardation.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities.
Ability to develop and implement outcomes.
Experience with or knowledge of assessment instruments.
PA Driver's License.

Responsibilities

Supervise all employees assigned to the program area (monitor and guide performance, train new employees, relay information via staff meeting)
Inspire people with disabilities or other special needs to lead meaningful lives by providing innovative services that promote dignity and respect.
Develop volunteer, recreational, and paid work experiences in the community.
Monitor program participants’ general health and diet, and communicate needs to supervisor and residential provider and/or family.
Assist with intake and referral process for new admissions.
Coordinate planning time and group meetings to discuss programmatic needs.
Supervise and assist each program participant with day-to-day and therapeutic activities (e.g., toileting, feeding, transferring, mobility, behavior management).
Assist with licensing inspections.
Ensure compliance with corporate policy and procedures, state regulations, and any other applicable laws and regulations.
Develop and implement programs.
Evaluate, guide, and instruct/supervise program participants in a comprehensive program, assuring completion of all required reports and forms, program participant expenditures, incident reports, programmatic reports, and meeting minutes.
Responsible for case management duties for a specified caseload, including: holding program planning meetings; acting as liaison with case managers, families, and residential and other service providers, if applicable; coordination or completion of assessments; coordination or development and review of IPPs and ICPs; coordination of training and development for individuals; development of planned program activities; ensure implementation of IPPs and ICPs and program activities; preparation of required reports and specialized programs
Perform daily schedule changes for designated group in times of employee absence.
Represent assigned program group at meetings, as appropriate.
Responsible for selecting and ordering materials and maintaining the program area and equipment, including an updated inventory.
Knowledge of emergency procedures.
Responsible for establishing schedules for supervision and providing supervision as needed during lunch, breaks, and before and after program hours.
Provide therapeutic activities for older adults.
Provide transportation for program participants, as required.
Obtain 24 hours of training each training year.
Regular attendance at work.
Other duties as assigned.
