About The Position

The Day Services Maintenance Worker is responsible for the overall cleanliness and day-to-day maintenance of the Day Service Program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED preferred but not required.
  • Valid NYS driver's license required.

  • Experience in maintenance and cleaning skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic cleaning duties, including mopping and waxing floors, washing walls, moving furniture and other heavy objects, cleaning restrooms and bathrooms, sweeping and vacuuming.
  • Remove all refuse and garbage from building premises on a daily basis.
  • Keep all sidewalks clean and safe, including snow removal during winter months.
  • Keep the facility in good working condition and advise management of any needed repairs.
  • Perform light maintenance and minor repairs, including patching walls, touch-up painting, adjusting doors for latching, etc.
  • Ensure that thermometers are available for checking the water temperature of sinks and dishwashers.
  • Conduct temperature checks on a monthly basis to ensure that the faucet temperature does not exceed 110 degrees and the dishwasher 140 degrees.
  • Keep an ongoing inventory of all tools and equipment available at the facility and replace tools and equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure that adequate paper and cleaning supplies are on hand for all designated areas.
  • Store all paints, chemicals, and cleaning supplies in a safe manner that appropriately meets all program regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs of the program and assist Program Coordinator in conducting and completing Monthly Physical Plant Review that is submitted to the QA Department.
  • If required, the maintenance worker must complete and pass the Certificate of Fitness exam for certification to operate the program’s fire alarm system.
  • Follow all agency, state and federal regulations to maintain program compliance.
  • Complete all written reports and documentation on a timely basis.
  • Ensure that program participants are safe at all times and that no program participant is inappropriately left alone or unsupervised.
  • Inform a program supervisor immediately if such a situation exists.
  • Maintain confidentiality of program participants at all times.
  • Report all incidents, including allegations of abuse and neglect and serious reportable incidents, to program management immediately upon discovery.
  • Assist in ensuring overall program orderliness and cleanliness.
  • Report any hazards or unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor and assist in removing such hazards/unsafe conditions, as feasible.
  • Participate in in-service trainings and on-site workshops, as required, for professional growth and development.
  • Attend external trainings and workshops at direction of direct supervisor or program management.
  • Undertake any additional tasks and initiatives within the scope of the role as per the specific needs of the programs and individuals and as assigned by supervisor.
