About The Position

As a Day Services Counselor, you will be assisting individuals with Autism to acquire, retain or improve their socialization, communication, and travel skills through recreational activities and community outings. Once those residing in our communities have aged out of school-based programs, our Day Services continue to reinforce the everyday skills necessary to successfully function in the world around us. We focus strongly on ensuring all program participants spend time in their local communities learning life skills, functional academics, and experiencing volunteerism along with a variety of sports and recreational activities. This is a great position to grow in -- we provide free portable training and certifications!

Requirements

Valid Driver's License and High School Diploma/GED.
Must be able to attend orientation before starting official shift. This paid training is located at our main office in the Bronx.
Must be able to submit a PPD test by the time of hire.
Comfortable driving a 15-passenger van - you will be road tested prior to starting.
Must attend additional trainings within 6 months of hired (CPR, SCIP, AMAP).
Comfortable with daily use of technology (computer, email, phone, typing etc).
Effective verbal and written communication.
