As a Day Program Facilitator, you will play a vital role in delivering therapeutic group services and supporting clients’ progress toward their treatment goals. Your responsibilities will include:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Prior experience facilitating therapeutic or psychoeducational groups, preferably in a mental health or treatment setting
  • Strong understanding of mental health conditions, treatment modalities, and group dynamics
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors and crisis situations with professionalism and composure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in documentation

  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and facilitate structured therapeutic group sessions using evidence-based and clinically appropriate interventions
  • Engage clients in activities that promote emotional regulation, coping skills, communication, problem-solving, and personal growth
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive group environment that encourages participation and respectful interaction
  • Adapt facilitation techniques to meet diverse client needs, learning styles, and clinical presentations
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership and multidisciplinary treatment team members to implement therapeutic programming aligned with treatment goals
  • Assist in developing group curricula focused on skill-building, recovery, wellness, and life skills
  • Modify programming based on client progress, feedback, and clinical guidance
  • Provide ongoing support to clients during sessions and encourage healthy expression and engagement
  • Observe and assess client participation, behavior, and progress
  • Communicate observations and changes in client functioning to the clinical team
  • Support clients in managing emotional or behavioral challenges during programming
  • Identify early warning signs of distress or crisis
  • Respond to crises using approved de-escalation techniques and safety protocols
  • Collaborate with clinical and medical staff to ensure client safety and continuity of care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to group sessions, attendance, participation, and incidents
  • Ensure documentation complies with organizational, regulatory, and confidentiality requirements
  • Adhere to HIPAA and agency policies at all times
  • Work closely with therapists, case managers, nurses, and other staff to coordinate care
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and trainings
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to enhance program quality and effectiveness
  • Participate in professional development and stay current on best practices and regulatory updates
