About The Position

This Wild and Free Day Program Director job description is intended to describe the essential duties and responsibilities necessary to meet proficient standards in the performance of this job. The position reports directly to the Executive Director, with duties that include, but are not limited to, the list below: Actual job Responsibilities: This position supports the philosophies, directives and programs of The Arc of High Point, Inc by performing these and other duties as assigned by the Director. To promote the mission of The Arc of High Point, to help individuals achieve a more independent and fulfilling life, by managing an effective team to provide quality services. Responsible for management and supervision of Wild and Free staff and participants, in compliance with licensing requirements, and the promotion of The Arc of High Point’s mission and principles.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a minimum of 2-year work experience
  • Must have valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Must have vehicle insurance coverage
  • Must be in good physical, mental, and emotional health
  • Must be willing to obtain additional training and/or attend conferences or workshops
  • Must maintain confidentiality of information about participants, records, practices, and company business affairs in compliance with HIPAA
  • Must be an advocate for people with disabilities, and teach members of the community to treat individuals supported with dignity and respect by modeling positive attitudes and respectful communication and interactions.
  • Must have the physical stamina to work designated hours, which may include working extended an/or flexible work hours/days

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the Wild and Free staff and ensure that day program operations are being sufficiently implemented
  • Ensure proper staff coverage of individuals enrolled in the program and provide coverage as needed. Designate where each staff member will be providing direct support on a daily basis.
  • Ensure Wild and Free staff are meeting all standards aligned with DSP Job Description and expectations
  • Keep the Executive Director informed of all program related issues.
  • Plan day to day activities and monthly calendar for the day program. Coordinate with DSP’s for new ideas, activities, outings, suggestions, and improvements.
  • Enforce compliance with all funding and/or licensing entities, such as but not limited to the Training Regulations; and the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division.
  • Plan for new and improved consumer services in accordance with best practices.
  • Market the The Arc of High Point and Wild & Free in the community, and through social media to maintain networking presence and boost referral potential.
  • Review and evaluate prospective day program participants; schedule meetings/tours with prospective new individuals, facilitate completion of necessary documentation; facilitate smooth transition and complete agency admission documentation.
  • Complete admission and discharge planning for individuals entering or leaving the program and complete all necessary documentation on a timely basis.
  • Participate in and provide input to QP during ISP meetings. Identify goals from ISP and complete required documentation, processes, and procedures for day program implementation for all participants, including Therap Service Authorizations.
  • Participate in care team meetings, Behavior Support Plan meetings, and SIS meetings when available and provide input to QP.
  • Review individual files to ensure accuracy and that all information is complete. Coordinate and run annual re-signing of paperwork to maintain individual files.
  • Receive and review monthly mileage reports from staff; submit reviewed reports to Executive Director
  • Provide input to QP’s on behalf of participants to the completion of annual reports, quarterly reviews and monthly summaries for caseload
  • Provide training to staff so that all staff meet Core Competency standards of the day program.
  • Oversee the daily participant attendance for billing accuracy, as well as staff attendance and punctuality
  • Review and approve T-logs in Therap, General Event Reports, and service documentation for day program participants. Carefully review, follow up, correct, and process all incident reports in a timely fashion and follow appropriate procedures for documentation based on guidelines and HRC.
  • Work with the Executive Director/QP’s to oversee the management and accuracy of funding units for individuals.
  • Resolve interpersonal conflict among staff with QP; give referral to QP when necessary. Present solutions to any issues that arise with a day program participant, and communicate with family as needed.
  • Create opportunities for staff development, personally and professionally, to maintain desired culture and empower staff to meet expectations
  • Model CQL best practices for all participants and staff, and ensure that all staff are CQL trained
  • Plan and oversee monthly Wild and Free staff meetings
  • Create any resources needed for activities and trainings in the day program such as human rights trainings, social skills trainings, etc.
  • Develop proposals and update paperwork and policies in coordination with the Executive Director as requested.
  • Prepare all communications sent to Wild & Free participants and their families and care teams in regards to the Day Program.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Director to create a budget for the day program, and participate in regular meetings for budget reviews.
  • Maintain Emergency Travel bags, with supplies and contact information.
  • Provides Transportation to and from services and throughout the day.
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license, operable vehicle, valid tags and auto insurance.
  • Complete quarterly and annual performance appraisals of assigned staff.
  • Provide instructional coverage for individuals as needed.
  • Interview for DSP positions, as needed
  • Provide consultation on individuals in the day program as needed.
  • Meet regularly for supervision with the Executive Program Director.
  • Acts as an advocate for participants to protect their legal rights.
  • Assist and support people to realize their goals and attain personal outcomes.
  • Assist and support people to develop and/or maintain a social and natural support network.
  • Assist and support people to maintain their health and well being.
  • Assist and support people to utilize the community and its resources.
  • Assist and support people to direct their services and make informed choices in all aspects of their life.
  • Assist and support people to have a safe environment in which to live and work, free of abuse, neglect and exploitation.
