About The Position

Lifesteps is hiring a Full-Time Day Program Assistant for the Transition program in Evans City / Zelienople area. Lifesteps is dedicated to assisting people with special needs strive to live full, independent and productive lives by providing community-based training in employment and daily living skills, while also supporting recreational activities. Position Summary: Responsibilities include: implementing program activities, daily lessons and support in the community; monitoring for health and safety; and assisting with personal needs and personal goals. Day Program Assistants teach the special needs young adults basic life skills such as cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping and budgeting, laundry, personal grooming, and banking. Vocational skills and job interests are also explored, along with conducting community activities such as sports activities, visiting museums and the zoo, picnics, etc. This position works Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. No Evenings, No Weekends, No Holidays. Part-time Hours also available.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • First aid and CPR certification - Training Provided by Lifesteps within 6 months of hire
  • Current driver's license with the ability to travel for business utilizing personal vehicle
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 200 pounds with Assistance

Nice To Haves

  • One-year experience working with individuals in the human services field, such as Direct Care, Direct Support Professional, nurses aide, C.N.A., personal care assistant, etc.
  • Associates or bachelor's degree (Special Education, Secondary Education, Sociology, Counseling, Psychology, Family Studies, etc. are related majors, but any major qualifies.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
