About The Position

Shineforth is a nonprofit organization that provides a comprehensive array of programs to support children, teens, and parents as they work to overcome challenges. We equip families with tools for success so they can achieve their goals. As a national leader in helping young people and families, we also proactively identify unmet social services needs and develop the necessary partnerships to address those needs. Work with caregivers and families of youth admitted to the Child & Family Healing Center who demonstrate emotional disturbance, behavioral disorders, and/or mental illness. Assist families to enhance family engagement, customer service needs, clinical outcomes/discharges rates and advocacy for youth receiving residential care. Connect families to formal and informal resources, helping them understand systems/services and build resiliency. Responsible for coordination of health care services and the physical well-being of youth. Participates in medical supervision and is part of the crisis center treatment team

Requirements

  • Registered LPN or RN in the State of Virginia with Board Certification.
  • One to three years of psychiatric, behavioral health experience.
  • Board Certification of LPN or RN in the State of Virginia.
  • Current certification in First Aid, CPR.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record per Shineforth policy.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordination of health care services for youth.
  • Review physical examination, dental, and immunization documentation of youth for purpose of meeting licensure standards and facilitates updating of charts.
  • Provide follow-up care for youth secondary to physician's orders.
  • Monitor the administration, distribution and inventory of drugs.
  • Maintain mandatory documentation and record keeping.
  • Provide educational workshops and training.
  • Maintain inventory of consumable medical supplies and oversee emergency medical supplies (both in house and in agency vehicles).
  • Administers, "reads" and maintains records of tine-tests for employees in Shineforth programs.
  • Administer and maintain required records for hepatitis vaccinations for employees.
  • Oversee agency compliance with OSHA requirements as it pertains to blood borne pathogens or other applicable regulations.
  • Facilitate proper billing procedures and acts as liaison between agency and pharmacies as well as other health providers.
  • Collaborates with external medical providers, nutritionists, specialty physicians, etc to ensure youth medical/health needs are best met.
  • Assure the facility meets, at a minimum, state and local health standards of residents and staff.
  • Maintain positive relationships with community resources.
  • Participate in the Medication Benchmarking Initiative by counting the number of medication errors, and number of medication dosages administered each month, on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct a one-hour Health Group and documents health group notes for residents using the EHR Database.
  • Must be able to work on weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.
