About The Position

This is a working lead position. Lead the NAS Commissary Janitorial day shift staff for profitability, productivity, and high quality. Develop and maintain a working relationship with the Senior Custodial Supervisor, Quality Assurance Evaluator, and Commissary Staff. Conduct business in a highly ethical and respectful manner and oversee satisfactory completion of all requirements of the Performance Work Statement. Lead all aspects of the day shift janitorial staff in performing janitorial tasks as directed by the PWS. Such tasks are performed in sales floor areas, lobbies, restrooms, locker rooms, warehouse areas, and outside. Tasks include but are not limited to sweeping, mopping, trash removal, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing.

Requirements

Ability to train, supervise, and support janitorial staff in daily duties and performance expectations.
Ability to organize, implement, and maintain floor-care schedules, ensuring consistent quality of service.
Ability to create, manage, and adjust employee schedules while staying within prescribed labor budgets.
Ability to identify, report, and correct deficiencies or items of poor or unacceptable quality
Ability to safely and effectively operate commercial floor-care equipment, including riding auto scrubbers, high-speed burnishers, side-by-side buffers, and commercial pressure washers.
Ability to work and communicate professionally within a military environment.
Must be able to pass local and federal background checks.
Must be able to read and write effectively for documentation and communication purposes.
Must be able to work respectfully and effectively with individuals with disabilities.

Nice To Haves

Prior janitorial supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Make daily reports to the Senior Custodial Supervisor
Maintain and track employees’ time via the payroll system
Approve employees’ vacation and sickness via the payroll system.
Maintain and enforce budget time limits for all day shift janitors.
Exercise continuous process improvement in all performance areas of the contract
Inspect all areas of custodial work and direct corrective action for discrepancies prior to calling for the QAE inspection.
Set and enforce employee production standards in all performance areas.
Regularly measure and evaluate employee productivity.
Develop and enforce efficient work schedules for all employees assigned to the day shift.
Assist with developing the annual periodic task schedule.
Assist with monitoring custodial supply inventory and inform the Senior Custodial Supervisor of supplies needed to prevent out-of-stock situations.
Follow all agency policies and procedures.
Clean and sanitize restrooms.
Clean sinks, countertops, toilets, and bathroom stall walls.
Restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas as necessary.
Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary.
Clean store glass as needed.
Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
Keep janitorial equipment clean and train staff to operate it properly and safely.
Wear proper personal protective equipment at all times.
Ensure all chemical containers are properly labeled.
Report all equipment repair or maintenance needs to the Supervisor.
Observe all safety rules and regulations.
Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
Other duties as assigned.
