Day Direct Support Professional - Life Enrichment DSP III Position Summary The Life Enrichment Services Direct Support Professional III provides high level support to individuals and has administrative responsibility, including independent completion of action plans and ongoing assessment of individual progress. This role requires a deep understanding of person-centered support. The DSP III will navigate problems and challenges and may act as a mentor to new team members.

Requirements

  • Ability to assist individuals with mobility and daily activities, including lifting and transferring
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry and email access
  • Effective communication skills to interact with individuals, co-workers, and supervisors
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors and provide crisis intervention when necessary
  • Patience, compassion, and empathy when working with individuals with disabilities
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to address various situations
  • Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for individuals served
  • Ability to foster community engagement and promote independence through meaningful activities
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to Cottonwood's insurance carrier

Nice To Haves

  • 4 - 6 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support individuals in achieving their personal goals and outcomes through detailed action planning.
  • Facilitate and contribute to Person-Centered Support Planning and review processes, ensuring person-centered approaches are maintained.
  • Provide safe and reliable transportation, including operating specialized equipment as required.
  • Assist individuals with personal care, including specialized health maintenance, meals, and hygiene.
  • Encourage and facilitate community relationships, helping individuals become more engaged in their local community.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and provide critical crisis intervention when required.
  • Actively mentor, train, and provide ongoing support to Level 1 and Level 2 DSPs.
  • Ensure the accuracy and compliance of all program documentation and assist in audits or reviews.
  • Support the development of new initiatives to improve the quality of life for the individuals served.
  • Act as a liaison between individuals and external services or family members when necessary.
