What you'll do: As our next Diesel Mechanic, you’ll be at the heart of our mission—delivering essential services that help improve public safety, enhance environmental quality, and keep things running smoothly. You’ll join a team that values hard work, safety, and showing up for one another. Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, with occasional evening shifts up to 8pm Location: 6150 Nichols Drive, Mableton, GA 30126 Your Daily Impact (essential functions): Assembly & Build: The ability to construct mechanical systems or components based on blueprints, technical specifications, or instructions. This includes following proper torque specs, sequences, and ensuring all parts are correctly installed. Inspection & Troubleshooting: The process of examining equipment and identifying mechanical issues. It includes visually inspecting parts, listening for abnormal sounds, checking system performance, and using tools to diagnose issues. Diagnostics & Reporting: Using tools and systems (diagnostic software, multimeters) to run tests that determine root causes of malfunctions and maintaining accurate records of findings and actions taken. Repairs & Reliability: Performing mechanical work to restore function or improve reliability of machines. Involves replacing or repairing parts with attention to detail, safety, and long-term durability. Preventive Maintenance: Regularly scheduled maintenance tasks aimed at preventing equipment breakdowns. Includes checking, cleaning, adjusting, and replacing parts to extend machinery life. Lubrication & Fluid Handling: Managing lubrication and fluids critical to machinery operation. Includes applying grease/oil, checking and replacing fluids, and recognizing signs of leaks or contamination. Maintenance Advising: The ability to communicate clearly with equipment users about maintenance needs, care techniques, and best practices to prevent premature wear or breakdowns. Auxiliary Repairs: Performing additional or specialized repair tasks such as hydraulic system maintenance, painting, electrical fixes, or minor body work that fall outside core mechanical repairs. Heavy Equipment: Familiarity with servicing and repairing large machinery such as sweepers, loaders, backhoes, and other industrial vehicles. Involves understanding their systems and operating conditions. Regular & Predictable Attendance: The ability to consistently report to work on time and as scheduled, with minimal unexcused absences. This includes being present and prepared to work throughout assigned shifts, and reliably adhering to start times, breaks, and end times.
