Requirements

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
2 years’ experience working with individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred.
Experience working with youth, camps, recreation programs, or community organizations preferred.
CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire)

Nice To Haves

ASL Degree, ASL Certification or K-12 Teaching License with concentration in ASL

Responsibilities

Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for Deaf or Hard of Hearing participants during daily activities, programs, emergency drills, and events.
Support effective communication between participants, staff, volunteers, and other program attendees.
Assist program staff in adapting activities and instructions to ensure accessibility and inclusion.
Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes participation and engagement for all individuals.
Collaborate with program leadership to address communication needs and accommodations in all aspects of the program, including policies and procedures.
Always maintain participant confidentiality and professionalism.
Attend and actively participate in all required training and staff meetings.
Assist with general program supervision to ensure participants’ safety and well-being.
Monitor participant engagement and communicate any concerns or needs to program leadership.
Follow all organizational policies, safety procedures, and emergency action plans.
