The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic Summer Camp Counselors to help create unforgettable experiences for youth across our community. At the YMCA, we strengthen communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. As a counselor, you are not just supervising camp — you are shaping confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories. Position Responsibilities: Lead and supervise groups of children in daily camp activities Create a safe, inclusive, and fun environment Plan and facilitate games, crafts, sports, STEM activities, and outdoor activities Serve as a positive role model and mentor Support positive behavior management with patience and consistency Communicate professionally with parents and team members Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed at all times Disclaimer: All of the above duties and responsibilities are essential job functions subject to reasonable accommodation. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Experience working with children preferred (camp, babysitting, tutoring, coaching, etc.)
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work outdoors and remain active throughout the day
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Must pass required background screening
  • Part-time, seasonal summer position
  • Monday–Friday shifts available
  • Pre-camp training provided
