About The Position

Tahoe Donner Association is looking for a fun and personable Day Camp Counselor to join our Day Camps Team! The Day Camp Counselor is responsible for assisting the Camp Leader in the daily planned activities, supervision of campers, overseeing day-to-day operation of the assigned camp, assisting in leading daily activities with campers and encouraging safety. Counselors participate with campers in all activities, engage with campers, and must enjoy the outdoors. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, business partners and employees. Ensures all staff meet or exceed the highest level of guest service in the performance of their duties. Uphold Tahoe Donner Association’s zero tolerance standard for sexual abuse and molestation by following protocols to protect participants from inappropriate behavior by staff, members, guests, public and other participants. Assist members and guests with information about Day Camps and recreational activities. Maintain understanding of Association rules, regulations, and prescribed program guidelines and complies with safety regulations. Participate with set-up and dismantling program props, signs, and other equipment as needed. Clean and maintain camp area, supplies and equipment. Attend, provide assistance and actively participate in camp and recreation activities with children. Assist Camp Leaders in planning, leading, supervising campers, and actively participates assigned camp with daily activities. Assist in cleaning the bathrooms, vacuuming the floors, taking out trash and mopping the floor daily. We have a full-time seasonal opportunity available! Requirements

  • Demonstrates excellent communication and “people skills”; must love engaging and interacting with people.
  • Must be a high energy, self-starter, with keen interest and ability in outdoor adventure.
  • Experience teaching or working with children 3 to 14 years of age.
  • These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent or up to one-month of relevant experience and/or training with children and children’s activities; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certifications for infants, children and adults are recommended.
  • Current American Red Cross lifeguard certification recommended.
